Meet the founder

An Interview with Samantha, Founder of The Naked Chemist

Transforming Skin Is My Calling

Transforming skin isn’t just my work—it’s my passion.

It’s my purpose. There’s no Plan B.

My waiting list is currently closed. But that hasn’t stopped the growing interest in the skin health revolution I’m leading.

So today, I’m opening up about the journey behind The Naked Chemist.

What drives me, who inspired me, and why integrity, transparency, and results will always be at the heart of everything I do.

Our Story with Samantha

Q: What’s the core message behind your skincare range?
A: The Naked Chemist is built on integrity and skin health. I want to help people regain skin confidence—beautiful, glowing skin is about more than appearance. It’s about self-esteem, healing, and trust. In an industry often full of hype, I want to offer clarity, education, and practical solutions that work.

Q: Why am I so passionate about skin health?
A: It comes from my clinical work—years spent hands-on, treating every skin type and condition imaginable. My goal has never changed: to create clean, honest formulas that genuinely heal and improve skin. Helping people reclaim control over their skin is what drives me.

Q: I’ve had my skin struggles. How did that shape my path?
A: Growing up, I had eczema and psoriasis, and stress made it worse. I started researching ingredients—inside and out. Natural remedies transformed my skin, and that personal healing led me to a career in skincare. I know what it’s like to feel uncomfortable in your skin, and that empathy shapes everything I do.

Q: How did I get into formulating?
A: I was born a chemist! My parents bought me chemistry kits as a kid—I was mixing rose waters at six. They’d go off after a few days, of course. I didn’t know about preservatives then, but even back then, I was drawn to the magic of natural formulation.

Q: What inspires me?
A: Nature. I grew up in rural Shropshire, surrounded by wildlife. Now I live near a rainforest in New Zealand—it’s humbling. Nature is robust, healing, and sustainable. The natural world shapes who I am.

Q: Who influenced my journey?
A: Horst Rechelbacher, founder of Aveda. His book Aveda Rituals lit a fire in me. He was a true pioneer of green beauty—holistic, ethical, and revolutionary. I try to embody Horst Rechelbacher’s principles in my work.

Q: Why is custom skincare so vital to me?
A: One-size-fits-all doesn’t work. We’re all metabolically unique. That’s why I created Skin Shots and offer tailored advice online. Every treatment is customised in-clinic—my range brings that same bespoke care to a broader audience.

Q: What inspired me to launch my brand?
A: My treatment approach created such demand that I couldn’t keep up. Clients were getting excellent results and spreading the word. Launching The Naked Chemist meant I could reach more people, especially online, and offer real solutions backed by results.

Q: Why is transparency so important in beauty?
A: Because the industry can be confusing, even misleading. My blog and free ebooks are there to educate, empower, and offer no-nonsense, evidence-based advice. I want my clients to understand what’s in their products and why it matters.

Q: What are the bestselling products?
A: Fortify cream and Xcell Barrier Repair Oil were born out of necessity. So many clients had damaged skin from harsh treatments. I formulated Xcell using skin-identical ingredients to restore and protect the barrier. The results were so impressive that Fortify Cream followed. Now, they’re clinic staples and client favourites.

Q: What do I love most about my work?
A: Seeing the transformation, not just in skin but in confidence. Knowing I’ve helped someone feel comfortable again is deeply fulfilling. That’s what keeps me going.

Q: What challenges do I face as a founder?
A: There’s a lot of pressure. Balancing clinic work, product development, client communication, and research is demanding. But I believe in what I do, and that keeps me focused.

Q: My advice for aspiring businesswomen?
A: Follow your dream. Dont give up, even when it gets hard? Be clear on your vision and trust yourself. If you want it badly enough, you’ll find a way.

Q: How do I maintain balance in my own life?
A: I tune in. I pay attention to my intuition and how I react to stress. Small changes, mindful reflection, and regular check-ins with myself help me stay grounded. And most of all—breathe.

Q: What’s my “naked truth”?
A: Helping people heal their skin is more than a career—it’s my life’s work. This journey is dedicated to my late father. He taught me the meaning of being nurtured by nature, and his love and wisdom continue to guide me every day.

In memory of: My journey is dedicated to my late father, Keith Edgar Miller. His love for nature and animals profoundly influenced my path and taught me that it truly means to be nurtured by nature. I will always be grateful for his nurturing influence and the lessons he imparted. I will forever miss you. He sadly passed away many years ago from asbestos.
