These terms govern your use of thenakedchemist.com and any purchase you make from us. Please read them before you order.
Where these terms refer to “we”, “us” or “The Naked Chemist”, that means The Naked Chemist Ltd, a company registered in New Zealand.
By using this site or placing an order, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
Who can order
You must be 18 or over to place an order.
Our products are cosmetics intended for personal use. If you’re buying on behalf of someone else, you’re responsible for making sure the products are suitable for them.
Orders
When you place an order, you’re making an offer to buy. A contract exists only once we’ve accepted your order and sent you a dispatch confirmation.
We may decline an order if payment isn’t authorised, the product is out of stock, there’s been a pricing or description error, or we reasonably believe the order isn’t for genuine personal use.
If we decline an order after taking payment, we’ll refund you in full.
We may correct errors in an order confirmation or invoice without liability.
Prices
All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Shipping is added at checkout and shown before you pay.
Prices can change at any time, but a change won’t affect an order we’ve already accepted.
If a product is listed at the wrong price, we’ll contact you before dispatching. You can confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund. If we can’t reach you, we’ll cancel and refund.
Payment
We accept payment through Stripe, PayPal and Afterpay. You enter your card details directly into their systems — we never see or store them.

Your consumer rights
If you’re buying as a consumer in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 give you rights that we can’t exclude or limit. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
If you’re buying from outside New Zealand, you may have equivalent rights under your own law, and nothing here limits them either.
Where these terms limit our liability, that limit applies only to the extent the law allows.
Product information
We describe our products as accurately as we can. Formulations, packaging and ingredient sourcing change over time, so we can’t guarantee that every detail on the site is complete or current at every moment.
Always read the ingredient list on the product itself before use, particularly if you have known sensitivities or allergies.
Colours shown on screen depend on your display and may not match the product exactly.

You don’t need an account to buy from us, but you can create one.
Keep your password confidential. You’re responsible for activity on your account, and you must not use anyone else’s. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed it.
You can ask us to delete your account at any time — see our Privacy Policy.
Using this website
You may browse the site, and print or download pages for your own personal use or to place an order.
You may not:
- Copy, republish or redistribute our content for commercial purposes
- Frame or mirror any part of the site
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems
- Use bots, scrapers or automated tools to extract content
- Interfere with the site’s operation or security
Our content and trademarks
Everything on this site — text, photographs, illustrations, logos, product names, formulations and code — belongs to us or to our licensors, and is protected by the Copyright Act 1994 and trademark law in New Zealand and internationally.
“The Naked Chemist” and our product names are our trademarks. Nothing on this site grants you a licence to use them.
Reviews and content you post
We welcome reviews and comments about products you’ve used.
When you post a review or send us content, you confirm it’s your own work, honest, and doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights.
Please don’t post anything that is:
- False or misleading
- Defamatory, abusive, obscene, threatening, or discriminatory
- Someone else’s copyrighted work
- Promotional content, spam, or links to other businesses
- A medical claim about what our products treat or cure
- Someone else’s personal information
We may decline to publish, edit for length, or remove any review at our discretion. We won’t remove a review simply because it’s negative.
By posting a review, you give us permission to publish it on our website, in emails and on social media, alongside your first name and the initial of your surname. You keep ownership of what you write.
If we’d like to share a photo or video of yours — for instance one you’ve posted on Instagram — we’ll ask you first, and we won’t use it unless you say yes.
Links and affiliates
We link to other websites for your convenience. We don’t control them, don’t endorse them, and aren’t responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Some links on our blog are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them. This never affects what we recommend or what you pay.
Offers and promotions
Offers are available while stocks last and only for the period stated. Any additional conditions will be set out with the offer.
We may vary or withdraw an offer at any time, but not for orders already placed under it.
Things outside our control
We’re not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control — natural disasters, extreme weather, fire, epidemic, war, civil unrest, strikes, carrier failures, courier delays, customs holds, or major internet or infrastructure outages.
If something like this happens, we’ll let you know and either extend the delivery timeframe or, if that’s not workable, cancel and refund your order.
Our liability
We provide this website as it is. We can’t guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or free of viruses, and we recommend you use your own security software.
To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including lost profits, lost data or lost goodwill — arising from your use of this site or our products.
Where the law limits our liability, it’s limited to the amount you paid for the product concerned.
Nothing in this section limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
We’re not liable for loss caused by using a product other than as directed, or contrary to its instructions and warnings.

Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the last updated date at the top.
The terms that apply to your order are the ones in force when you placed it. Changes won’t apply retrospectively.
Governing law
New Zealand law governs these terms, and New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
If you’re a consumer in the United Kingdom, the European Union, or another country whose law gives you the right to bring a claim in your home courts, that right isn’t affected.
General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
If we don’t enforce a term straight away, that doesn’t mean we’ve given up the right to enforce it later.
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Shipping & Returns policy, make up the entire agreement between us.
