Make Your Own Ginger Honey Chews

Our bodies often encounter viruses that cause flu-like symptoms, and while Lemsip and paracetamol can quickly ease symptoms, it doesn’t address the root cause and can weaken your immune system over time.

That’s why I prefer natural remedies that support your body’s healing, such as homemade ginger chews for nausea and flu. The bonus is that they also taste amazing, are easy to make, and are packed with benefits.

Ginger is renowned for its ability to calm nausea caused by motion sickness, morning sickness, and digestive upset by relaxing the stomach and reducing the urge to vomit. Honey adds antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe your sore throat, reduce inflammation, clear your sinuses, and boost the immune system.

So, whether nausea strikes you down or if you have the flu, a cold, or just a runny nose, these ginger chews for nausea can offer you soothing relief. Plus, they are a delicious way to support your body’s defences naturally.

Why I Swear by Ginger Chews

But just as important are the everyday choices you make for your body, especially during cold and flu season. One of my favourite natural remedies is ginger chews. They’re simple to make and packed with healing ingredients; these ginger chews for nausea are perfect, and help reduce inflammation and support your immune system naturally.

A Personal Note on Manuka Honey

I’m originally from England, and before moving to New Zealand, I seemed to catch every virus going. Since settling here, I’ve noticed something incredible — I’m virtually virus-free. Much of that I credit to New Zealand’s unique Manuka honey. It’s not just any honey; it’s packed with natural antibacterial and healing properties that truly support your health and vitality.

Manuka honey, combined with New Zealand’s stunning natural environment, makes a powerful team for wellbeing, something I love to share through my recipes and products.

Honestly, I even hand these chews out to clients in the clinic during winter; they’re that good. So, let me show you how to make these delicious, immune-boosting chews.

About the Ingredients

Ginger Root: Use fresh, raw ginger. You can control how spicy the chews are by adjusting the amount:

  • 2 tablespoons for a mild flavour
  • 3 tablespoons for balanced spice and sweetness
  • 4 tablespoons for a strong, fiery kick, which is my favourite

Raw Honey: Adds natural sweetness and antioxidants. It also soothes coughs, sore throats, and digestion.

Sugar: I recommend raw organic cane sugar or evaporated cane juice sugar.

Water: The base to make the ginger liquid.

Starch: I use cornstarch or tapioca starch to dust the finished chews, preventing them from sticking together.

Can I Make These Vegan?

Yes. Swap honey for an equal amount of sugar to create a vegan version.
