CO₂-Extracted Oils: The Clean Green Secret to Glowing Skin

At the Naked Chemist, we’re on a mission:

To harness the clean, green goodness of botanicals and infuse them into every product we create.

We believe in delivering the full power of the plant directly to your skin.

That’s why we go the extra mile, using the most advanced and delicate extraction methods available.

For precious oils like rosehip seed oil, we choose CO₂ extraction — a method that preserves the oil’s full potential.

This ensures that every drop you apply is rich in nutrients, antioxidants, and skin-loving compounds.

Pure, potent, and just as nature intended.

CO₂ Extraction: Pure, Clean, and Powerful

CO₂ extraction is an innovative method that captures a plant’s full range of compounds in their purest form. Unlike traditional techniques that rely on heat or harsh solvents, this process preserves delicate botanical properties, resulting in a more potent and natural extract.

Because it takes place in a vacuum without oxygen, the oil doesn’t oxidise or lose strength. This is especially important for fragile oils with short shelf lives, such as rosehip seed oil. The method retains the complete spectrum of compounds — terpenes, flavonoids, and antioxidants — so none of the plant’s skin-loving benefits are left behind.

Another advantage is that CO₂ extraction is free from solvents, chemicals, and heavy metals. The result is skincare that is as pure, clean, and green as possible.

Clean Green Supercritical CO₂ Extraction

For even more delicate botanicals, we use supercritical CO₂ extraction. This advanced method transforms CO₂ from volcanic rock into a fluid-like state. In this form, it can pass through plant material at low temperatures (around 30°C), extracting all the biologically active compounds without damaging them.

Because the process is performed in an oxygen-free environment, the oils remain stable and resistant to rancidity. CO₂ itself is inert and safe, ensuring every extract is free from contamination and chemical residues. The result? Oils that are exceptionally pure and nutrient-rich.

The Benefits of Rosehip Seed Oil

Why does this matter for rosehip seed oil? CO₂ extraction delivers a product that is cleaner, greener, and significantly more effective than oils produced by conventional methods. Research shows it can yield up to twice as many regenerative sterols and four times more antioxidant carotenoids — both of which help heal skin, calm inflammation, and protect against environmental damage.

The shelf life is also dramatically extended — up to five times longer than traditionally extracted rosehip oil. That means your oil keeps its rich orange colour, nutrient profile, and regenerative power for much longer.

By using CO₂ extraction, we ensure that you receive rosehip oil as fresh and potent as possible — giving your skin the very best chance to repair, regenerate, and glow with optimal health.

To conclude. The Naked Truth

At The Naked Chemist, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best clean, green botanical skincare, and CO₂ extraction plays a key role in achieving this.

We’ve made Rosehip Seed Oil a staple in many products, citing its powerful regenerative properties.

In formulas like our Xcell skin shot and Replenishing Barrier Repair Balm, we’ve packed in as much CO₂ extracted oil as possible to ensure your skin receives the maximum benefit.

By using the purest, most potent oils, we help activate skin healing at a deeper level.

I have rose hips growing near me and wanted to make some tosehip oil for personal use. I guess my choices are either cold press or I see some people just infuse a carrier oil which would be wiser but would this method give any of the benefits of the rose hips? Thank you.

Hi Marissa
all our facial oils are formulated with CO2 extracts.
I would have to know which country you are from please before advising where best you can purchase products

Kind regards

Samantha
