I’ve been deeply moved by the number of people reaching out for support.
Seeking relief from adverse effects of Morpheus8 treatment.
The absence of comprehensive guidance and assistance for those navigating these challenges is a genuine concern.
With this in mind, I’ve created the following guide and this free ebook to help you avoid any potential side effects from Morpheus8.
Morpheus8 Treatment can be a transformative experience for many.
However, for some, it can quickly become an overwhelming and isolating journey when faced with side effects.
Lately, more and more people are contacting us online with morpheus8 bad reviews.
If you have experienced a poorly performed treatment, you are likely keen to know how to initiate your skin’s healing process.
Because of this, I put together this article: microneedling beware.
I am dedicated to endorsing stricter regulations governing the correct use of this treatment, as emphasised in this study (1).
In this article, l refer to various terms throughout this guide, including Morpheus8 with PRP, derma rolling, micro-needling, RF needling, or any other treatment variation.
While the names may differ, the information here applies to anyone considering or undergoing Morpheus8 treatments, especially those considering performing this treatment at home, which we discuss here.
The stratum corneum is the outermost layer of skin, serving as a robust physical defence against microorganisms and external threats.
However, microchannels formed during micro-needling or Morpheus8 treatments can allow microorganisms to access the deeper layers of your skin, thus increasing susceptibility to infection.
This paper (2) looks at more than 30 studies, shedding light on a spectrum of potential side effects that individuals may experience due to these treatments.
These include the following: There is a risk of abnormal scarring, allergic or irritant contact dermatitis, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and fungal infections. Additionally, there are concerns about phototoxic reactions resembling acute sunburn and photoallergic reactions often characterised by eczematous-like changes.
These findings emphasise the need for comprehensive awareness among individuals considering micro-needling or Morpheus8 treatments, both for those already advocating for it and those exploring the procedure for the first time.
Recognising and considering these potential conditions ensures a safer and more informed experience.

Ensure your skin specialist or dermatologist has ample experience with Morpheus8 treatment and a deep understanding of the skin.
The technique and expertise of the practitioner will significantly influence your treatment outcome.
Experienced professionals might drag the device over your skin, leading to sustained injuries and scarring.
A skilled practitioner will thoroughly determine the number of passes, length, and frequency of needle insertion.
Poor sanitation, inadequate consultation, and incorrect product recommendations often result from a lack of experience.
Insist on a comprehensive consultation before proceeding with your Morpheus8 treatment; a lack of one should raise concerns.
The correct skin preparation is vital; beginning at least 4 to 6 weeks before the treatment, the clinic should also assess your medical history and determine whether your skin type suits the procedure.
The consultation should cover the following aspects:
Consider these topics a potential red flag if they are not addressed during the consultation.
For more information on consultation, refer to this article.
If these are conditions you may be experiencing, it would be wise not to have a treatment.
Also, refrain from having chemical peels at least four weeks before, as they can thin your skin.
Depending on your treatment, each procedure can be very different.
However, your skin specialist/dermatologist will take close-up photos of your skin so you have before and after records. If you have a poor outcome and they deny responsibility, this is your PROOF.
Before you begin treatment, they should go back over your initial consultation; this will give your skin specialist/dermatologist a chance to see if there are any changes in your medical history and medications you may be on and to ensure you have followed the ‘pre-treatment’ protocol correctly as outlined above.
First, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed with sterile gauze and saline solution; good hygienic practices and equipment are paramount to reducing the risk of infection because these devices have the potential for backflow and cross-contamination.
It is important to note that during your treatment, the device should not be placed near the orbital rim, your eyelids, or the vermillion border of your lips.
Anything applied to your skin after your Morpheus 8 treatment is purely for “sealing” your skin to replenish moisture loss.
This is why we only recommend using pure, high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid. Even then, we suggest waiting at least an hour for the channels in your skin to seal.
This will slow down dermal absorption, which may be responsible for triggering an immune response.
Your skin specialist should recommend only a minimal skincare routine, a topic we discuss in great detail in the article “How to care for your skin after micro needling.”
There is a tendency in the industry for some people to recommend applying ascorbic acid vitamin C immediately after micro-needling to their clients.
However, studies (3) have found that this can trigger an immune response, which may cause granulomatous infections, which are extremely serious and can do irreparable damage.
This is one of the biggest reasons we get so many Morpheus8 bad reviews; it’s from people who have been wrongly recommended products that irritate.
You can read more about this in our article, vitamin C and microneedling.
How Should I Care for My Skin?
For best results, follow this microneedling before and after care instructions:
Day 1-2: If your skin looks worse after microneedling like it has a severe sunburn reaction and feels flushed and hot in some areas, the visible inflammation phase typically lasts around 48 hours. Applying a cooling mask soaked in pure hyaluronic acid will help reduce inflammation.
Day 3-5: There may be slight swelling and bruising that will reduce after the one-week mark.
Day 6-14: Depending on needle depth, you will notice dryness and flaking for the first week due to increased cellular turnover.
Be patient – skin rejuvenation may be seen as early as one week, or it can take as long as eight weeks to heal.
If you are on a course and your skin is not settling down, we recommend not having any more treatments at this stage and contacting your aesthetician for advice.
Microneedling’s side effects include pinpoint bleeding, bruising, inflammation, scabbing, dryness, flaking, and track marks.
Additionally, your treated skin may look rough, almost like sandpaper, as it flakes off and is replaced by new tissue.
More severe issues include track marks, a change in texture, raised milia-like bumps, changes in skin conditions, orange peel texture, extended pores, and sagging.
You may notice dark patches on your skin and, in some cases, hypopigmentation – a lightening of your skin.
If you experience post-operative wound infections, you should contact your skin specialist immediately; they may need a biopsy to determine whether you have an infection.
Frustratingly, Vitamin C is often recommended, but we disagree as it can severely inflame your skin’s tissues.
In summary, this article offers essential advice if you’re considering having a morpheus8 treatment.
It shares ten essential treatment tips, guides you in choosing a skilled specialist, prepares before and after the treatment procedure, and explains potential side effects.
We’ve outlined the need for informed choices, thorough consultation, and how you should carefully plan when having a morpheus8 treatment to safeguard your skin’s health.

Bonjour,

Is there any way you can get this translated and please send us photos for consultation to samjade888@gmail.com so we can help you further.
I would caution people to go to a medical provider for this treatment and not an esthetician, i.e. in a clinic not a day spa. It is a medical procedure and there must be a medical history and physical by a medial provider (MD, NP, PA) before hand to clear the patient medically. There is strict screening and before and after care instructions provided. It is the job of the medical provider to minimise risk and select appropriate candidates, and ensure the patient understands the risk in order to make an informed decision. Unfortunately there are some large chain “laser and skin” clinics with poorly trained staff.
Hi Mara
I agree with a lot you say not with the use of keywords however because that is what is being used in this article hence the term rolling needles. But whether you want to call it rolling needles or punctuating the skin with needles its still one and the same thing. I agree in a controlled environment that this treatment can have good results. These are case studies from real clients who write to us daily (We get about 10 a week from clients who have poorly performed outcomes from this treatment who are disfigured for life). Not convinced? We invite you to reach out to the some 400 people who have commented on the micro needling beware article on our site. So apologies until this treatment becomes regulated I’ll continue to be their voice! But its great that you have lots of experience we need more people like you in the industry I agree, but sadly as of 2023 that certainly is not the case.
