A CLINICAL PERSPECTIVE
Dry skin is not straightforward, it is in fact very complex and very difficult to treat,
simply because there are two separate conditions going on dryness and dehydration.
Whilst both these conditions present the same symptoms at a cellular level, there is a big difference between moisturisation and dehydration, they have very different requirements.
Skin appears thin and delicate with barely visible pores, oil production slows down because sebaceous glands are less active, this inhibits skins moisture retaining capabilities. All of these predisposing factors lead to accelerated moisture loss, lack of elasticity and ageing.
